So you’ve decided to move forward with your new Delaware kitchen remodel, but you’re feeling a little uncertain about what to expect, and maybe even a little scared. If you’ve chosen Mark Michalsky Kitchens, you have nothing to worry about! Our one-kitchen-at-a-time policy means that we will be there for you, always responsive and willing to answer your every question or concern, every step of the way. Great communication is key!
Let’s take a look at how a typical Mark Michalsky Kitchens project goes…
- Layout and design, selections, and pricing – This crucial phase will lead the process off and can take anywhere from a week to two months, depending on how much time you are willing and able to invest in this phase. Proper planning and pricing now means a job that runs smoothly later.
- Demolition – Once materials are on order, the demolition phase begins. You’ll need to empty your cabinets by the start date. Go to work in the morning and your old kitchen will be in the dumpster when you get home! (It’s important to note that this includes your existing sink and faucet; you will be without a functioning kitchen sink until the project is complete.)
- Rough electric, plumbing, and possibly, HVAC – This is usually completed by the end of the first week, but may go into the second week on a large project.
- Drywall – Three or four days of this dirty, messy phase and then we’re ready to vacuum, prime, and paint.
- Flooring – The finished floor is installed over the next one to three days.
- Cabinets – They are delivered and installed, usually in three days or less.
- Countertop template – After cabinets, we scribe for countertops. Granite, which is by far our most popular option, takes five work days from scribe to installation. We have been working with Keystone Granite and Tile for years, and they have an amazingly quick turnaround for our customers as well as craftsmanship that is second to none.
- Details – While we are waiting for the countertops, we will trim the job, install the hardware you have purchased, and get ready for the countertops. On some jobs, we may not be on the job for a day or two as the countertops must be installed before we can continue.
- The BIG DAY: Granite! Your countertops are installed and your sink is set. Once you see the countertops in place, you’ll know we are almost there!
- Backsplash – Next is the tile on the backsplash, followed by the grouting.
- Utilities – Now it’s the plumber’s turn to hook up the sink and dishwasher. The electrician follows with his final trim work.
- Appliances – Your purchases are delivered and installed.
… and there you have it – a beautiful kitchen, and we stayed on schedule!
